London South East Colleges’ University Centre has earned a prestigious award recognising the high quality of its teaching, learning and outcomes for students.
The Silver Award has been granted to the college by the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) panel of The Office for Students. It highlights that the college is delivering "...high quality teaching, learning and outcomes for its students… consistently exceeding rigorous national quality requirements for UK higher education."
The TEF panel recognised that the University Centre:
- equips students with knowledge, skills and understanding that are valued by employers
- has a culture of working with students as partners in learning
- puts a focus on individualised support that facilitates personalised learning
- offers a range of physical and digital resources that are used by students to further learning
Dean of Higher Education at London South East Colleges University Centre, Ramita Tejpal, commented: “We are delighted to be granted a silver award from the TEF - this really is an outstanding achievement for our University Centre. I am grateful to the student council, who have worked tirelessly alongside our staff, to help secure this national accolade.
“This award will help us to further establish the strengths of our University Centre. We will continue to work with students as partners in learning, supporting them to develop the skills they need to become highly employable. Our positive graduate outcomes for all students from all backgrounds reflects both the accessibility and the quality of our provision - and this is something we are very proud of."
Principal and CEO of London South East Colleges, Sam Parrett OBE, says: “Our Higher Education provision continues to go from strength to strength and it is wonderful to have this success recognised with a Silver TEF Award.
“Working closely with academic and employer partners is integral to our success. Together with all our partners we are able to offer students a unique, high quality learning experience - with excellent progression opportunities and outcomes."
The University Centre was established in 2015. It was re-branded as London South East Colleges University Centre in August 2016, following the merger of Bromley College with Greenwich Community College and Bexley College.
The College offers a wide range of Higher Education vocational and applied vocational degrees offered in partnership with the College’s University Partners, Canterbury Christ Church University, the University of Greenwich, Buckinghamshire New University (BNU), Kingston University and through Pearson. Many of these can be studied flexibly to fit in with family and work commitments, making our courses fully accessible to a wide range of students.
